In a monumental engineering feat, a fiber optic cable will be laid beneath the Arctic to connect Asia and Europe, enhancing the quality and speed of telecommunications.
With a staggering cost of 100 billion euros, the cable will span 14,000 kilometers, linking Japan, Alaska, the Canadian Arctic, Greenland, Iceland, northern Norway, and Finland.
The companies behind this ambitious project are Finland’s Cinia and the U.S.-based Far North Digital, with completion expected by 2026.
